Emergency service swarmed a Midlothian street on Sunday after an alleged assault.
Police rushed to the scene after alarm was raised at around 4.30pm yesterday.
Cops probed the area between Newbattle and Mayfield following reports of an incident.
The extent of injuries are unknown at this time.
Officers have now launched an investigation into the alleged assault.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 4.30pm on Sunday, 7 March, officers were called to an area between Newbattle and Mayfield following a report of an alleged assault.
"Enquiries are at an early stage as officers work to establish the full circumstances."
