Riot police swarm Cumbernauld Street amid 'ongoing incident'

A street in Cumbernauld has been locked down by police amid an "ongoing incident".

Officers were first called to Rowan Road in Abronhill area of the North Lanarkshire town five hours ago.

An neighbour claimed the area is "swarming with police " and a picture has emerged of riot police on the scene.

However the exact nature of the incident is not yet known.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland confirmed that they have been in attendance at an "ongoing incident" at Rowan Road since 3.30pm.

At around 9.30pm they confirmed that the incident had concluded but no further information could be given.
