Police suspect syndicate behind cash, drugs seized in raids

Police seized more than $100,000 cash suspected to be the proceeds of crime. Picture: ACT Policing

Police suspect a crime syndicate is responsible after an estimated $300,000 worth of cannabis and more than $100,000 cash was seized following two raids of Canberra homes.

Police found several vacuum-sealed bags filled with cash they suspected were the proceeds of crime in a raid on Wednesday morning.

A second warrant was executed at an unoccupied residence in Yarralumla where sniffer dogs assisted officers to find more than 43 kilograms of dried cannabis in vacuum-sealed bags, estimated to be worth $300,000.

No charges have been laid in relation to the findings but police believed a crime syndicate focused on the supply of cannabis and other drugs into the ACT was responsible.
