Police stormed homes across Salford in multiple raids and found hundreds of cannabis plants

Police stormed homes across Salford in multiple raids and found hundreds of cannabis plants.

Just before 8am on Wednesday, June 2, warrants were executed as part of a police operation aiming to disrupt organised crime in Salford.

The warrants - part of Operation Naseby - were executed at two homes in Orrel Street and Wythburn Street.

Two large scale cannabis farms were discovered by officers and around 250 cannabis plants recovered from the scene.

A third stash of some 99 cannabis plants was also seized at a third house on Wythburn Street.

Witnesses in the street say police were 'in and out' of the properties 'for hours' as they seized the drugs, piling them into CSI vans, according to residents.

'Several' police vans and North West Electricity vans were also seen on the streets.

A 23-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of production of cannabis and abstracting electricity. He remains in custody for questioning.

Police Constable John Prendergast said: "This is an excellent result, and by removing drugs from our streets, it'll have a significant impact on the scourge of organised crime in Salford.

"Our officers work around the clock daily to keep combatting criminal groups operating within our city, and we are committed to maintaining this level of action.

"Officers do often rely on intelligence given to us in confidence from members of the public, so if you see anything suspicious, contact police directly via LiveChat on our website www.gmp.police.uk or call independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously, on 0800 555 111."
