Police stop elderly driver travelling wrong way down M1

Nottinghamshire Police were called to reports of a car travelling the wrong way down the M1 on Thursday evening (October 17).

The force has thanked the public for making them aware of the driver.

At around 7.30pm officers stopped an elderly driver near Annesley.

A spokesman for the police said: "The force's control room have been called numerous times this evening (October 17) at around 7.30pm following reports of a vehicle going the wrong way on the northbound M1 between junctions 26 and 27.

"Officers stopped the elderly driver after locating the vehicle in the Annesley area on the A608.

"The force would like to thank the general public for their calls and concerns tonight."
