Police stop digger driver for using mobile phone at the wheel

Officers on patrol stopped the driver of a JCB 'plant vehicle' in Warsop after they were seen using a mobile phone.

The Nottinghamshire Police Special Constable operational support (NottsSCOS) officers said they also seized the vehicle after the driver was found to not have a license.

The incident happened around 9pm on Friday, September 6 in Warsop.

Notts Police Specials tweeted a picture of the vehicle and said: "NottsSCOS Officers have stopped a plant vehicle in Warsop for no license and using a mobile phone."

Special Constables also known as 'Specials' are volunteer police officers with the same powers as regular officers and take part in frontline police work.

They work in partnership with regular officers and the wider policing family, such as Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs).

Specials spend a minimum of four hours a week supporting their police colleagues to tackle crime in their communities.

They spend most of their time on the streets, doing intelligence-based patrols in crime hotspots or taking part in crime-prevention initiatives.
