Police stop 52 cars in search for missing man as family fear for his safety

Police have been speaking to members of the public as part of their search for a man missing for over a week.

Alexander McMillan was last seen on CCTV around midnight on Monday, April 25, on Manse Road near to Howe Road in Kilsyth.

The 46-year-old's family are becoming 'increasingly concerned' for his wellbeing and safety.

Officers searching for Alexander stopped six pedestrians and 52 cars in the area he was last seen in a bid to jog people's memories.

When last seen, Alexander was wearing a navy hooded jumper, a baseball cap, grey trousers or jogging bottoms and dark coloured Adidas Gazelle trainers. He was carrying two rucksacks; one white and grey with a ‘Timberland logo’, and the other blue/white/grey striped. He was also carrying a fishing rod in a carry case.

Inspector Susan Rae of Cumbernauld Police Station said: “It has now been a week since Alexander was last seen and since then he has not made any contact with family or friends. As time passes we are becoming increasingly concerned for his wellbeing and safety.

“Since Alexander was reported missing, extensive searches and enquiries have been carried out throughout the Kilsyth area. These searches are ongoing and we continue to appeal to the public to assist with our enquiries.

“I would urge anyone who has seen Alexander since Tuesday, April 26, or who has any information that may be relevant to our investigation to contact us as soon as possible.

"Anyone with any information should contact Police via 101, quoting incident number 1579 of Wednesday, 27 April."
