Police still on hunt to trace two suspects after one arrested on alleged knife disturbance

Police have arrested a man over an alleged disturbance involving a knife in a Wishaw street.

However, officers say they are also keen to trace two other individuals who may be able to assist with their enquiries.

The 30-year-old man was arrested in connection with the alleged incident in Gateside Road, Craigneuk, that took place on the evening of Sunday, June 6.

He is said to have brandished a large knife towards other people in the street at 8.40pm before making off. However, he was quickly identified and traced following an investigation.

Police say they are still looking to identify two other people in relation to this incident.

Sgt Jim Mutter told Lanarkshrie Live: “Police are committed to reducing violence and disorder and will carry out thorough investigation to identify and apprehend anyone acting in such an anti-social manner.

“We work with North Lanarkshire Council Housing and the Anti-Social Team to share information about problematic offenders.

“Anyone charged for anti-social offences risk losing their tenancy as well as facing criminal charges."

One man is described as being white, aged 25 to 28, slim build with short dark hair wearing a black hooded top, red shorts and black trainers.

The second suspect is female aged between 35 to 45, medium build, dark hair tied back in a ponytail wearing a black hooded top and white pyjama trousers with a black pattern design.

Sgt Jim Mutter added: “I am appealing to the local community who have any information regarding this incident or any other to call the police.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
