Police still at house over 24 hours after dramatic raid found huge cannabis farm

Police remain at a house in Anfield over 24 hours after a dramatic raid at the property.

Officer put the door of the home, on Rector Road, through on Thursday morning following intelligence from the community.

Inside, a huge cannabis farm was discovered in the upstairs bedroom by those searching the house.

It is believed that over 100 cannabis plants and growing equipment was found in the room during the warrant.

On Friday night, almost two days after the raid, neighbours reported that officers were still at the scene.

Merseyside Police confirmed to the ECHO that the house was still considered a crime scene the cannabis dismantling team and crime scene investigators work at the property.

No arrests have been made in connection with the find.

Pictures taken at the house show where officers broke through the front door of the house and a police van is parked outside.

Previously, when a cannabis farm was discovered by Merseyside Police, Sergeant Chris Hughes said: "Every time we discover a cannabis farm and seize the plants, the streets of Merseyside are made safer.

"The people who set up these farms do not care about the dangers they pose to neighbouring properties, or the harm drugs cause to vulnerable members of our communities.

“They often use violence and intimidation to keep their illicit businesses going, and the fact this farm has been found means these plants will not now be used to line the pockets of criminals who bring only misery to our streets.

"Keep reporting any suspicious behaviour, smells, sights or visitors in your area and we will take action like this."

Some of the signs that cannabis is being grown are:

• Strange smells and sounds
• Frequent and varied visitors to a property, often at unusual times
• Gardening equipment being taken into a property, such as plant pots, fertiliser, fans and industrial lighting
• Windows are sealed and covered or the curtains are permanently closed
• Heat from an adjoining property
• Birds gathering on a roof in cold weather
• Individually these activities may seem commonplace, however, together may indicate something more sinister
