Police statement as person found dead on Leeds train line at Micklefield Station

Police have confirmed a person died on the train line in Micklefield on Monday.

Officers from British Transport Police (BTP) were called to the station in Leeds at 7.57pm following reports a body had been found on the tracks. Paramedics also rushed to the area.

Sadly, a person was pronounced dead at the scene.

BTP has today (Tues) confirmed the death is not being treated as suspicious and the matter has now been handed to the coroner.

A spokesperson said: "Officers were called to Micklefield station at 7.57pm yesterday evening (March 21) following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

"Paramedics also attended and sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner."

A huge emergency services response was pictured at the scene last night as Northern confirmed the line between Micklefield and Leeds had been blocked.

Forensic officers, police vehicles and an ambulance were all seen at the train station.
