Police statement as emergency services called to Bestwood Country Park

Police have explained why a huge number of emergency services were called to a country park. Police, fire and ambulance vehicles were all seen parked up at Bestwood Country Park, in Bestwood Village, at around 5.45pm on Saturday, April 30.

The emergency services were called over concerns for safety - but this turned out to be a false alarm. A spokeswoman for Nottinghamshire Police confirmed a full search had been completed as part of the investigation. But nothing was found.

Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue also confirmed they were in attendance. A picture taken at the scene shows at least five fire engines, four ambulances and a police vehicle all parked up at the park.

An eyewitness, who took a picture from the scene, said: "First I was sitting near the water when two men came and asked me if I saw children swimming in the water. I didn't and soon after I was walking back on the path I saw this."
