Police statement as boy taken to hospital after attack in Sneinton

A young boy has been taken to hospital after being attacked in Sneinton Dale.

The 16-year-old suffered minor injuries and was given first aid at the scene but has since been discharged from hospital.

The assault took place just before 10pm on the evening of Monday, August 16.

Nottinghamshire Police are investigating the incident that forced the closure of Sneinton Dale and Westwood Road in Sneinton. The road has since reopened.

Detective Inspector Rachael North, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “We are investigating the circumstances after a 16-year-old boy suffered minor injuries during an incident in Sneinton.

“Officers were called to Sneinton Dale just before 10pm yesterday (Monday August 16, 2021).

“Our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of this isolated incident and we are working hard to trace those responsible for this attack including trawling through local CCTV footage.

“Sneinton Dale and Westwood Road have been closed while we continue with our investigation and it is expected they will reopen shortly.

“We have also increased visible patrols in the area to provide reassurance.

“We are urging anyone who saw what happened or anyone who was in the area who may have recorded CCTV, dash-cam or mobile phone footage, to please get in touch with us as soon as possible.”
