Police statement after major Nottingham road cordoned off overnight

A major street in Nottingham city centre was cordoned off until the early hours of Thursday morning, December 23, as emergency services responded to an incident.

Nottinghamshire Police sealed off an area after reports that a car had struck a lamppost in Talbot Street just after 10pm on Wednesday (December 22).

The driver was taken to the hospital with leg injuries by an ambulance, Nottinghamshire Police confirmed. The driver's injuries are not believed to be life-threatening, a spokesperson for the force added.

It is understood that workers from Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service were also in attendance.

No other vehicles were involved in the collision and the road reopened at 3.10am on Thursday (December 3).
