Police statement after emergency services called to Beeston Marina

Police have explained why emergency services were called to Beeston Marina.

Police, fire and ambulance crews were all called to the marina at around 5.20pm on Sunday, May 30.

Pictures show fire crews and paramedics at the scene, which was busy with a lot of visitors during Bank Holiday weekend.

However, while it was initially believed it could have been a water rescue, police have confirmed the incident was not as initially reported.

A spokesperson for Nottinghamshire Police said: "The incident was not as serious as was initially thought.

"It turned out a canoe had been kicked into the marina by some kids."

Crews have since left the marina and the incident is no longer ongoing.
