Police statement after 2-car crash caused delays on major Nottingham road

A two-car collision at a roundabout joining three major Nottingham roads caused major delays for motorists in Nottingham, police have confirmed.

Commuters were held up on Western Boulevard and Wollaton Road throughout the morning of Tuesday, November 2, due to a traffic signal failure after a crash at around 7.30am.

The collision took place on an island which joins Western Boulevard, Middleton Boulevard and Wollaton Road.

Motorists experienced delays for two hours up until around 9.30am, when the situation was said to have returned to normal by traffic monitoring site Inrix.

Nottingham Travelwise said in a tweet that temporary traffic lights have been put in place.

No-one was injured in the accident.

A Nottinghamshire Police spokesperson said: “Officers attended reports of a collision on the Island which joins Middleton Boulevard, Western Boulevard and Wollaton Road.

“It is reported that two cars were involved, but that the road wasn’t blocked and no injuries were sustained during the incident, which happened just before 7.30am this morning (Tuesday 2 November 2021).”
