Police spotted zooming across Leith Links grass in pursuit of youths on bikes

Police cars were spotted driving across Leith Links this afternoon in pursuit of a group of youths on bikes.

Sunbathers were startled to see police cars driving across the grass towards the play park on the west side of Leith Links as a gaggle of youths reportedly fled on bikes.

One onlooker told Edinburgh Live: “It was just zooming through the actual park on the grass. There were loads of kids, they all took off from the play park area.

Two cars were spotted chasing the group through the park and in the direction of Leith Walk.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 7.05pm on Monday, 13 July, officers were called to the Leith Links area of Edinburgh following reports of a possible disturbance.

"Enquiries are ongoing."
