Police have sparked a probe after receiving reports of a serious sexual assault.
A 28-year-old woman was approached by three men who then subjected her to the assault in Glebe Place, Saltcoats.
A police spokeswoman said: "Police received a report of a serious sexual assault which took place on Glebe Place, Saltcoats around 7.30pm on Sunday, March 1.
"A 28-year-old woman was walking on Glebe Place near to Glebe Street when she was approached by three men and subjected to a serious sexual assault.
"Enquiries are ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 quoting incident 2457 of 1 March. Alternatively, information can be passed to Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111."
