Police sniffer dogs bust shops selling illegal tobacco in raids across Oldham

Police have busted several shops selling illegal tobacco following several raids involving sniffer dogs.

Officers in Oldham carried out an operation with Trading Standards on Saturday (July 10) to uncover illegal supplies.

Five out of seven shops visited were found to be in possession of illegal substances, according to police from the Waterhead neighbourhood team.

In a post on Facebook, police confirmed the cigarettes were seized, sharing an images of huge numbers of packets on the floor of one shop.

The officers said: "Officers from the Waterhead neighbourhood team conducted a joint operation with Trading Standards on Saturday in relation to illegal tobacco.

"Using specially trained sniffer dogs five out of seven shops visited were found to be in possession of illegal products.

"A large quantity of cigarettes were seized and the shop keepers are now awaiting prosecution.

"#JobWellDone."
