Police slam speeding drivers at Cardiff 'car meet'

South Wales Police tackled speeding drivers at a 'car meet' on Newport Road, Cardiff on Sunday night after the alarm was raised by concerned residents.

Angry motorists reported anti-social drivers racing around Newport Road and Southern Way.

South Wales Police Cardiff deployed patrol cars and reported a number of drivers caught speeding at 66mph and 58mph on Newport Road which in a 30mph zone.

They branded driving at such speeds 'unacceptable'.

A Police spokesman said: "A number of drivers dealt with and following concerns raised by residents regarding Southern Way speed checks conducted and two drivers [have been] reported."
