Police slam Jeremy Clarkson for complaining about road closure after serious crash

Police officers have blasted Jeremy Clarkson for a tweet he made after a serious crash.

The former Top Gear presenter Jeremy expressed his frustration on Twitter about a lengthy road closure caused by the collision, reports Birmingham Live .

"Dear The Police, I know it was a nasty crash in Hammersmith last night but how can it take this long to re-open the road?" the tweet read.

West Midlands Police responded bluntly, saying: "We would like to extend an invitation for you to come out on patrol with us for a shift - so you can see, first hand, what we have to deal with."

What to do in a motorway crash

Many twitter users then suggested Clarkson should take up the force on its offer.

One wrote: "Well @JeremyClarkson you have the chance to find out.

"Are you going to bottle it?"

His post was also condemned by others, with one writing: "My brother passed away 11 days after an RTC. I don't care if the road is shut for a week.

"The answers we gained were instrumental in helping me understand why he died.

"The police were magnificent throughout."
