Police shut road after driver smashes into parked car - then runs away

A driver smashed into a parked car before running away from the scene in Oldham .

The crash happened in the early hours of this morning (Friday) on Rochdale Road in Royton.

Police were called to the scene just after 5am.

They found a black Vauxhall Corsa had crashed into a stationary grey BMW.

The road was closed for several hours while an investigation was carried out.

The road was reopened at around 7.30am.

A GMP spokeswoman said: "At around 5.10am today, police were called to reports of a collision involving two vehicles on Rochdale Road, Oldham.

"Officers attended and initial enquiries have established a black Vauxhall Corsa collided with a stationary grey BMW.

"Prior to officers’ arrival, the occupants of the Vauxhall left the scene."
