Police shut off road and search house after reports of gunshots fired in Salford

Police have sealed off a residential street in Salford following reports of gunshots being fired.

Officers were called to Broughton Lane in Lower Broughton after receiving reports of a firearms discharge.

GMP believe that the incident happened on Monday night (June 1), but the report was made to them on Tuesday afternoon.

Nobody was injured in the incident.

No arrests have been yet been made.

A police cordon is in place and Broughton Lane is sealed off this evening while officers search a property.

A number of police vehicles remain at the scene.

A GMP spokesperson said: "We received reports of a firearms discharge overnight on Broughton Lane.

"It was a late report that came into us today.

"The cordon is in place currently while an address is being searched.

"There are no reports of any injuries and no arrests have been made.

"We would ask anyone with information to get in touch with us."

Police can be contacted on 101 or reports can be made anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
