Police shut down Twitter rumours of body find in River Clyde

Police have dismissed rumours circulating on social media claiming a man's body was pulled from the River Clyde last night.

Various posts gained traction on Twitter on Tuesday evening speculating that cops had discovered a body in the water.

Officers have now dismissed claims of a grim find and say they have no recorded incident of this nature.

A statement was quickly released this morning to shut down the various rumours widely circulating on online platforms.

The statement said: "Police Scotland is aware of social media rumours circulating regarding a man’s body being discovered in the River Clyde last night, Tuesday 14 September, 2021 .

"Police Scotland has no record of an incident of this nature."
