Police share sighting as search for missing woman last seen at caravan park continues

Police have shared the last known sighting of a missing woman who was last seen at a Carmarthenshire caravan park.

Susan Smith was last seen at 1.30pm on Saturday, February 27, when she was walking in the Carmarthen Bay Holiday Village, near Kidwelly.

Officers from Dyfed-Powys Police have since been continuing their search for Ms Smith, following a major land and sea search, with the assistance of the coastguard, RNLI, and mountain rescue teams on Sunday, February 28.

Last week members of the public were urged to search their outbuildings and check security cameras.

Now officers have traced Ms Smith's movements along the beach into Ferryside where she was seen crossing the railway lines into the village shortly before 3.40pm on Saturday, February 27.

It is believed the 63-year-old had made her way back to the beach to a landmark known locally as Big Ben Rock at around 4pm.

Officers are urging any witnesses who may have been in those areas at the time to come forward.

Inspector Gerallt Jones said: "We are now appealing for anyone in those areas at the time to come forward if they have seen Susan or if they have any further information that may help with the investigation.

"We have received many calls regarding this matter and we would like to thank those people for helping us with our investigation. Extensive inquiries are still ongoing."

Ms Smith is known to walk along the beach to St Ishmaels and Ferryside.

She is described as approximately 5ft 2ins, petite with shoulder-length blonde hair, and was believed to be wearing black jeans, a black fleece-type jacket, and navy and grey walking boots.

Officers have carried out extensive searches of the surrounding area as well as house-to-house inquiries.

Anyone who has seen Ms Smith or may have information that could help the search is asked to contact police on 101 quoting reference 285 of Saturday, February 27.
