There have been three incidents in Greenwich Road where four bikes have been stolen from a shed and garage, and a greenhouse was damaged in an attempt to break into a second garage.
In Daisy Street there has been a report of two individuals trying house doors
A house burglary in Fearne Street is also under investigation.
Inspector Kevin Deacy, for Canton and Ely, said: "Being a victim of any burglary is a traumatic experience and having your home burgled is particularly distressing.
"In addition to the emotional distress, there is also the inconvenience and cost of replacing items and repairing damage.
"While we don’t wish to alarm the community, we would like to raise awareness.
"Officers have been doing increased patrols in the Victoria Park area of Canton, particularly in the hours of darkness, to prevent crime and catch the person or persons responsible.
"For that reason, some of our patrols are in unmarked vehicles and our officers in plain-clothes so residents might not necessarily notice a police presence.
"While we continue with increased patrols, we also ask residents to be vigilant.”
Anyone with information or the individual himself is asked to contact South Wales Police on 101 or via direct message on social media quoting occurrence number 026188 .
