Police shame men who drove from Manchester to Leeds to meet friend during lockdown

Police in West Yorkshire have tweeted their amazement at a driver who picked up two friends to "go and get food" amid coronavirus lockdown.

The driver of a white BMW 4x4, who apparently lives in Manchester, was reported to have picked up a friend near Manchester airport before driving to Leeds and picking up another friend.

Police said that the driver told them they were going to get food.

In a tweet by West Yorkshire Police's road policing unit, an officer said that the driver had "totally amazed" them.

They confirmed that all three people in the vehicle had been "dealt with".

Their tweet read: "The driver of this vehicle has totally amazed me. He lives in Manchester, picked a friend up near Manchester and has driven to Leeds to pick a further friend up to go and get food.

"All three persons have been dealt with. This so serious stuff people. #socialisolation THINK!!"
