A vehicle drove into pedestrians in the western German city of Muenster on Saturday, police said.
"There are dead and injured. Please avoid the area. More information can be found here. We are on site," the regional police service said on Twitter.
A police spokeswoman said that the suspect might be among those killed.
“There are several dead, probably including the suspect,” she said.
A security source added that “the scenario is such that an attack cannot be ruled out.”
The German news agency DPA later reported that the driver of car that crashed into the crowd had killed himself.
