Police set up overnight checkpoints across North Belfast

Police have set up a number of checkpoints across North Belfast in an attempt to apprehend impaired drivers and thwart criminal activity.

In a tweet sent on Saturday night (December 11), the PSNI said it would be using the checkpoints to root out "criminal activity and drink/drug driving".

North Belfast police added that a number of breath tests had already been carried out and urged motorists to never drive under the influence drink and drugs.

"Vehicle check points are up tonight across north Belfast," the police tweeted.

"We’re on the lookout out for criminal activity and drink / drug driving.

"A number of breath tests already carried out. Never drive under the influence of drink / drugs… it really isn’t worth it."
