Two English babies who are missing since Wednesday may have travelled to Ireland with their parents, police say.
Investigating officers believe that Kayleigh Smart, 33, and Neil Saunders, 34 may have travelled to Ireland with their son Nate Saunders who is 18 months old, and his sister Kiya Smart, who is six months old.
The family were last seen in the early hours Wednesday morning, at an address in Skelmersdale, Lancashire.
According to the Manchester Evening News, Police have issued an urgent public appeal to trace to two babies and say that they are 'seriously' concerned for their welfare.
In a statement published on social media on Thursday afternoon, Lancashire Police said the siblings were last seen at an address on Evenswood in Skelmersdale in the early hours of Wednesday.
Police said the parents have links to the Merseyside area as well as Lancashire.
The statement said: "While police believe the two children are with their parents, Kayleigh Smart, 33, and Neil Saunders, 34, there are serious concerns for their welfare.
"There is also a suggestion they may have travelled to Ireland."
Anyone with information is now being asked to come forward.
Police have also issue a direct appeal to the parents.
Detective Inspector Steve Monk said: "I would like to stress that our immediate concern is the safety of these two young children and I would urge anyone who sees the parents or who knows where they may be to get in touch.
"Equally I would urge Kayleigh and Neil to get in touch if they see this appeal so that we can establish the children are okay."
