Police seized 'deathtrap' off-road bike after reports it was 'razzing around'

Police have seized a nuisance off-road bike in Rochdale.

Officers described it as a 'deathtrap'. It was seized on Tweedale Street on Sunday.

It followed reports from residents that the bike had been seen 'razzing around the area'.

In a post shared on the GMP Rochdale Facebook page, police urged people to keep vehicles like the one seized off the roads.

They said: "Please don't put your own or others' lives in danger with these death traps."

Photos shared by GMP show the red bike being towed away on a truck.

Dozens of people commented on the post praising the force.

Natalie said: "Good job, they're a public nuisance and often uninsured, these off road vehicles are everywhere and cause disruption.

"Thanks for removing this one."

Peter said: "Brilliant! Potentially saved a life, well done GMP."

There are no places to legally ride off-road bikes in Rochdale.

People caught riding them on the streets can be hit with a hefty fine, an ASBO or a breach of tenancy.
