Police seize weapons and over 100 bags of drugs after stopping 'suspicious' driver

Police officers who pulled over a man thought to be driving suspiciously uncovered a huge stash of drugs, thought to be heroin and crack cocaine.

Traffic police spotted the car being driven along Lucas Road, in Farnworth, Bolton, at around 10.20pm on Friday, December 10.

They stopped the driver, a man aged 28, and quickly realised he was in possession of a large amount of drugs in wrapped bags.

In total, officers found 120 bags of class A drugs.

A later investigation of the man's address revealed a BB gun and an air pistol, which police then seized.

The 28-year-old was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply.

He has since been released under investigation.

Inspector Jon Shilvock of GMP's Road Policing Unit said: "Thankfully our officers were swift to identify the suspicious vehicle and pull the driver over, resulting in an arrest and seizure of both drugs and weapons.

"GMP's Road Policing Unit's goal is to ensure our roads are kept safe through enforcement, raising awareness but also through education.

"Criminal use of the roads will not be tolerated and we will continue to target those who use it for such activity, ensuring they're caught and brought to justice.

"If you notice something that doesn't feel right when you're out and about then I encourage you to call 101, 999 in an emergency or via our LiveChat at www.gmp.police.uk."

Details can also be submitted to police via the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
