A car has been seized by police after officers patrolling a Nottingham retail park ended up dealing with a car meet.
Officers from Gedling's neighbourhood policing team (NPT) and Nottinghamshire Police's specials team were on patrol near Victoria Retail Park in Netherfield on Sunday evening (April 11).
When they arrived at the retail park, officers dealt with a meeting of cars and also found people committing anti-social behaviour in the area.
Police in attendance seized a car after it was found the driver had no licence or insurance.
A Tweet put out by both policing teams said: "Gedling NPT and specials policing team was on duty a Netherfield retail park on Sunday evening dealing with reported issues of antisocial behaviour and car meets.
"Our specials team seized one vehicle as the driver had no driving licence and no insurance. Driver reported."
The car meet is not the first incident of its kind to take place across Nottinghamshire in recent days.
Police reported 300 cars after they were found meeting at East Midlands Parkway railway station, also on Sunday evening (April 11).
This came less than a week after a large car meet caused disruption on Nottingham's roads, and led to Nottinghamshire Police issuing a 24-hour dispersal order in place.
This, the force said, would help prevent reckless drivers and further potential Covid-breaching car meets.
Neighbourhood Inspector Craig Berry said: "While we can of course understand people’s desire to want to be out with friends again, the government and our health colleagues remain cautious.
"We would like to remind people that we are not totally out of lockdown measures and Covid-19 still remains a threat.
“We are working with organisers, the local authority and other partners to make these events as safe and crime-free as possible.
“Where necessary, we will seize vehicles and issue fines under Coronavirus legislation. In addition to this action, we are working with nearby businesses to discuss changes that can be made to security arrangements which will prevent such gatherings in the future.
"We have issued tickets on various occasions in the past and we will continue to do so where appropriate."
