Police seize more than £100k of Spice from homes in Greater Manchester in just three weeks

Police have seized more than £100,000 worth of Spice from houses across Greater Manchester in the last three weeks.

Officers carried out three warrants in different areas of the region on Tuesday (July 14).

They discovered a huge quantity of Spice which would be worth around £40,000 at street value.

Two people were arrested on suspicion of drug supply offences following the raids, police said.

Over the last three weeks, around £100,000 worth of the psychoactive substance has been seized from addresses across Greater Manchester.

The spice was found in larger bags and in individual wraps (GMP)

Pictures posted on the GMP City Centre Facebook page show the bags of the synthetic drug seized on Tuesday.

Some of the Spice is in a larger carrier bag and some has been put into small wraps.

Alongside the picture, Inspector Jon Shilvock said this was 'another blow' to criminals supplying the city with the 'horrendous substance'.

He wrote: "On Tuesday teams Op Orion and Challenger Manchester carried out 3 simultaneous warrants in different areas of Manchester.

"As a result, approximately £40,000 of spice was recovered and two people were being arrested on suspicion of drug supply offences; in the last three weeks that is almost £100,000 of spice seized from addresses.

"It was a fantastic team effort and another blow to those criminals supplying the city centre with the horrendous substance.

"We will continue to pursue those that bring illegal substances to our streets, causing misery to many."

Operation Orion is led by a dedicated team of officers based in the city centre who investigate serious crime linked to the area.

The officers carry out surveillance and gather intelligence to identify anyone who might be involved in serious crime.
