Police seize Mercedes after driver races another car in Peter Street

A driver had his white Mercedes car seized by Greater Manchester Police after racing another car down Peter Street on Sunday evening.

The motorist had previously been warned by officers for driving in an antisocial manner when he was stopped in Deansgate at the end of September and, on this occasion, taking into consideration his past history, they decided to take firmer action.

A spokesperson on the official Greater Manchester Police Manchester City Centre Twitter account @GMPCityCentre commented on the incident this evening in an 11.11pm post that was accompanied by a photograph of the vehicle being towed away.

The spokesperson said: "When we warn you we will seize your car if you keep driving in an antisocial manner we mean it… Driver warned on #Deansgate on 30/9/21 by our @GMPSpecials had his car seized by #OpSycamore & @GMPSpecials this evening as it was racing a car down #PeterStreet."

Members of the public are reminded not to use Twitter to report crime but, instead, to call 101 or 999 in an emergency.
