Police seize Lamborghini for revving loudly as it crawled along Manchester city centre

Police seized a Lamborghini in Manchester city centre after complaints about a parade of high performance cars crawling along and revving their engines loudly.

A series of supercars caused a bit of a stir as they were seen being shown off along Deansgate on Saturday night.

Traffic on Manchester's main thoroughfare will frequently struggle to reach the 20mph speed limit.

It didn't seem to bother the drivers of a series of high-performance cars who were content to crawl along, revving their engines so every could see their pride and joy.

But for at least one motorist the night ended badly when police seized his Lamborghini.

The model of the car hasn't been revealed but a Lamborghini Aventador can top 217mph.

Greater Manchester Police posted about the incident on its city centre Facebook page.

The post said: "For some reason a large number of hired high performance cars (are) driving around the city revving their engines tonight.

"I don't know why people want to spend a fortune to hire a car & sit in a traffic jam on Deansgate.

"They need to understand people live in the city & don't appreciate the noise & anti-social behaviour.

"We've currently got traffic officers dealing and a Lamborghini has just been seized."

The move was welcomed by most people on social media.

Ethan Carberry-Holt, writing on Twitter, said: "I don’t mind people driving Lambos, I mean I love seeing a nice Lambo just like any other guy, but I hate it when they’re driven obnoxiously and without care care and/or attention.

"Good job guys however, less dangerous drivers off the streets of Manchester."

The Lamborghini was pulled over by police (GMP)

The car, which is thought to be worth at least £300,000, was seized near Manchester Road in Oldham on Wednesday.

Police spotted the driver being 'erratic' so stopped the car.

Checks then revealed that the driver did not have suitable insurance to drive the white Lamborghini.
