Police seize imitation handgun in raid after male spotted with weapon in Hyde

Police have seized an imitation handgun during a raid after a person was seen with a weapon in Hyde.

Officers from the Tameside District Tasking Team discovered the imitation firearm after executing an evidence warrant on Edna Street.

It came after an incident on Nelson Street in Hyde on Monday evening, in which a male was seen with a handgun.

A suspect was quickly identified and a property was raised yesterday morning.

Officers searching the house found an imitation firearm and a quantity of drugs.

Firearms officers and crime scene investigators attended the address to assist with the seizure of the weapon.

A 17-year-old male was arrested on suspicion of possession of an imitation firearm, with the intention to cause fear of violence and possession of class B drugs.

Whilst in custody, the male was further arrested on suspicion of possession of class A, with the intent to supply.

He was interviewed by detectives and has since been released under investigation.
