Police seize huge haul of cars as crooks target 'unsafe locks'

A rural taskforce has seized cars and made one arrest after 'offenders' targeted unsafe locks.

Rossendale Police said that three burglaries have been reported this week in which criminals snapped UPVC door locks to gain access in the early hours of the morning.

As a result, the Rossendale Rural Task Force set up on the Manchester border stropping vehicles 'to try and prevent these offenders coming to Rossendale'.

Police chased one car into Bury, found people driving with no licence or insurance and seized their vehicles, and arrested a drink driver.

"At time of writing there have been no further lock snap burglary offences reported to us and we will continue to target the borders," Rossendale Police said.

The force has warned people that criminals could target some locks on UPVC doors.

"Basic locks in UPVC doors aren't very secure and it only takes a matter of minutes to break in.

"You can upgrade your locks to anti snap locks and it is something you can do yourself," Rossendale police said in a statement.
