Police seize flashy Audi that sped past cops as they arrested drink driver who 'needed the toilet'

Police arresting a drink driver who jumped a red light 'because he needed the toilet' were called straight back into action as a flashy Audi sped past.

Officers pulled over a white Ford Transit Connect van after spotting it speeding along Lord Sheldon Way, in Ashton-under-Lyne, in the early hours of Monday morning (May 31).

Having already been seen by officers, the van was then driven through a red light.

The driver eventually pulled over and told officers he needed the toilet, but when he was breathalysed he was found to be more than twice the legal limit for drink driving.

As officers arrested the van driver, they noticed a white Audi S3 car speed past in the same area.

Police stopped the car and discovered that the driver was above the legal limit for both drink and drug driving.

The driver was arrested and the Audi was seized for careless driving, under Section 59 of the Police Reform Act 2002.

In a number of posts on social media, a spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police Traffic said: "This van was seen at high speed Lord Sheldon Way, Ashton.

"The driver then went through a red light. When stopped he said he needed the toilet, but he also blew 80 on the breathalyser. Now en-route to custody.

Officers had already stopped this Ford van in Ashton before the Audi sped past (GMP Traffic)

"While loading the previous drink driver in Ashton in to the van, this Audi S3 passed patrols at high speed, stopped and a struggle ensued.

"Driver now arrested drink drive and drug drive. Car seized S59."
