Police seize cannabis plants worth thousands in raid at property

Cannabis plants with an estimated street value of around £60,000 were seized from a makeshift cannabis factory in Bulwell.

Nottinghamshire Police's drones unit worked alongside Bulwell officers to execute the warrant at a property in Ockerby Close, at around 10am on Tuesday, June 9.

Officers found the property had several rooms filled with cannabis plants as well as growing equipment, adding that there were "safety issues" with the property's electricity supply.

Nobody was arrested by police in what the force previously described as a "pre-planned operation".

Police Sergeant Oliver Vale, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Officers attended the address and identified that it appeared to have been converted into a cannabis factory.

"Due to concerns around the safety of the electricity supply at the address officers have forced entry and located several rooms filled with cannabis plants and growing equipment. All safety issues have now been resolved.

“We are always working to combat illegal drug supply as drug dealers prey on the most vulnerable in our society. We have a zero tolerance approach to this form of activity.

“Our communities play an important role in providing us with information on suspicious activity and I would encourage anyone who sees anything suspicious to get in touch with Nottinghamshire Police via 101.

"No one has been arrested in connection with the seizure and I would encourage anyone with any information to contact us as soon as possible via 101 quoting incident number 110 of 9 June 2020.”
