Police seize cannabis cultivation valued at £300,000 during search of Airdrie commercial unit

A CANNABIS cultivation valued at £300,000 has been seized by police officers in Airdrie.

Acting on “information”, the officers searched a commercial unit in the town’s Railway Road at 10.45am yesterday, where they found “approximately 500 plants” of the Class B drug.

Two men, aged 29 and 37, were arrested and charged in connection with the incident.

They are due to appear at Airdrie Sheriff Court today, January 14, and a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.

Sergeant Ross Edgar, Lanarkshire Police Division, said: “We remain committed to tackling the production and sale of drugs across Lanarkshire and I would like to thank the public for their continued assistance in providing us with information that helps us carry out enforcement activity.”

If you have any information or concerns about drug misuse in your area, report this to Police Scotland in confidence via 101, or to Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
