Police seize cannabis, alcohol, and nitrous oxide canisters from stop searches

Police have carried out stop and searches in the Tip Hill area of Adlington, Cheshire.

They recovered a number of items on one individual who was carrying various illegal substances.

A Twitter post from the police shows a large portion of cannabis was recovered, although they did not state if this was for personal use or for intent to sell.

The tweet reads: "Last night a number of stop searches were carried out in the Tip Hill area. The below items were taken off one individual.

As well as cannabis and alcohol a number of nitrous oxide canisters were also confiscated which we're sure were not going to be used for whipping cream."

Nitrous oxide canisters were also recovered which are involved in the abuse of nitrous oxide, sometimes called laughing gas, which can result in someone losing consciousness or even suffocating and dying.

Under the Psychoactive Substances Act, it is illegal for a person to sell or give away nitrous oxide for recreational purposes.

Those who are found selling nitrous oxide can face a fine and a prison sentence of up to seven years.
