Police seize £32k worth of 'cocaine' during raid in Scots town

Police seized £32,000 worth of suspected cocaine during a raid in a Scots town.

Officers swooped in Cumnock, East Ayrshire, after receiving a search warrant for a property on the town's Barshare Road.

On Friday afternoon at around 2.15pm officers from the Ayrshire Division Proactive Crime Team recovered a significant quantity of controlled drugs, believed to be cocaine, with an estimated street value in excess of £32,000.

A 32-year-old man was arrested and charged in relation to the supply of controlled drugs and a full report has been sent to the Procurator Fiscal.

Chief Inspector Nathan Calderwood said: "We are committed to tackling the supply of controlled drugs in our communities and we understand the impact this type of crime can have.

"I would encourage anyone with information on those involved in crime in their community to contact us."

Yesterday we revealed police in Ayrshire seized £44,000 worth of cocaine in Maybole, South Ayrshire.

Officers swooped during the pre-planned operation at a premises on the town’s High Street on Tuesday morning.

Police Scotland can be contacted by calling 101 (in an emergency always dial 999). Information can also be provided anonymously via the independent charity CrimeStoppers by calling 0800 555 111.
