Police seize £300,000 Lamborghini supercar being used to take student to school prom

A Lamborghini supercar escorting a student to their school prom was pulled over by police and towed away after the driver was found to have no insurance.

The car, which is thought to be worth at least £300,000, was seized near Manchester Road in Oldham on Wednesday.

Police spotted the driver being 'erratic' so stopped the car.

Checks then revealed that the driver did not have suitable insurance to drive the white Lamborghini.

The vehicle was then seized under Section 165 of the Road Traffic Act.

In a post shared on the GMP Oldham Central Facebook page, police said the driver stated he was 'using his own insurance on a third party basis to cover the insurance on this car'.

But this wasn't valid cover.

Police said: "Drivers must ensure they have suitable insurance to drive performance vehicles, whether hired or owned personally."

Photos shared by GMP show the white supercar being pulled to the side of the road by a police van.

The car is then pictured being towed away by a truck.

Dozens of Facebook users commented on the post offering praise for the police.

Sue Fink said: "Well done! No insurance is unbelievable."

Deb Waterhouse commented: "Well done GMP. Which company or person would seriously let someone drive their 300k car without adequate insurance? Unbelievable."

Summer Debby said: "What a plonker serves himself right. Great job as always GMP, stay safe."
