Police seize 200k of cannabis after raid on Dumbarton house

A cannabis stash worth more than £200,000 was discovered in a house in Dumbarton.

Police raided the property on Cardross Road on Wednesday and discovered the plants with an estimated street value of £203,400.

A 45-year-old woman has been arrested and charged in connection with the find - she is due to appear at Dumbarton Sheriff Court on Monday.

The Dumbarton raid came after an earlier raid had uncovered £300,000 worth of cannabis plants at an industrial unit in Glasgow Road, Clydebank.

And Detective Chief Inspector Ogilve Ross of Dumbarton Police Station hopes that the discovery goes to show that officers are continuing to tackle drug crime locally - despite the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

He said: “This is the second recent major recovery in the division. Last week, two men, aged 31 and 29, were arrested following the recovery of 500 cannabis plants at an industrial unit in Glasgow Road, Clydebank.

“Our officers will continue to target anyone involved in the sale and supply of controlled drugs, even during the current Covid-19 restrictions.”
