Police seize £12k heroin and cocaine in daylight raid on Scots housing estate

Police seized more than £12,000 worth of heroin and cocaine in a daylight raid in a Dundee housing estate on Monday.

Two men, aged 18 and 24, were arrested following the recovery of the haul in the Arklay Terrace area of the city at around 4pm on May 11.

As well as the Class A drugs, cops found a four-figure sum of cash at the same time.

Chief Inspector David McIntosh, Local Area Commander for Dundee, said: “Drug misuse brings nothing but misery to our communities and I want to reassure the people in Dundee and wider Tayside area that we will continue to use every tool and tactic at our disposal to remove these illegal substances from the community."

CI McIntosh added that officers are continuing to prioritise the eradication of drugs misuse across communities in the area, regardless of increased pressure from the current coronavirus pandemic.

He added: “These efforts have continued throughout the ongoing pandemic and offenders should not believe themselves to be beyond the reach of the law.

“Our work often relies on the support of the public, so if you have any information or concerns about drug misuse, do not hesitate to contact Police Scotland on 101 or report this anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”

The two men have been charged and were scheduled to appear at court on Tuesday, May 12.
