A man has been arrested after officers seized £125,000 worth of drugs inside a Glasgow home.

Police carried out the bust at a property on Brock Oval in the Pollok area of the city on Monday.

Officers discovered a quarter of a million tablets of the controlled substance Etizolam during the search.

The class C drug is used as a medicine in Japan and India to treat anxiety, insomnia and panic attacks.

It currently does not have a license in the UK and has been deemed to be very addictive by the drugs advisory organisation Frank.

A 34-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with drug offences.

He is due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Tuesday.

Detective Inspector Craig McPhail of the Serious and Organised Crime unit said: “As a result of an intelligence-led search today a large quantity of drugs has been removed from circulation.

“Removing illegal substances from our communities remains a priority for officers and I would encourage anyone with information about drug crime in their area to report this to us so that we can investigate thoroughly.”

A spokesperson for Police Scotland added: “Anyone with information regarding drug supply should contact police via 101 or alternatively Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
