Police seeking witnesses to serious assault in Narrabundah

Police are seeking witnesses after a serious assault in Narrabundah in the early hours of Friday morning.

An 18-year-old woman ordered an Uber after leaving the One22 bar in the city about 3am on March 26. A silver vehicle approached soon after, which the woman got into.

Police do not believe the silver car was a legitimate Uber vehicle.

A man, who the woman did not know, got into the car at the same time and sat next to her in the back seat. The car was driven to Narrabundah, near Jerrabomberra Avenue, where the man and woman got out of the vehicle.

It drove away and soon after the woman was seriously assaulted by the male passenger.

Police are investigating the incident and have called on anyone with information about the vehicle or its driver, or witnesses to the incident, to come forward.

Anyone with information that could assist police is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers ACT website, quoting reference 6761026.

Information can be provided anonymously.
