Police seeking well known Liverpool kickboxer after 'loving, caring man' shot in the street

Police still want to speak to a well known kickboxer about a shooting in south Liverpool and a mass brawl at a city centre venue.

Last December police said that they wanted to speak to Liam Chung about a gun attack and a fight at the Black-E club in Liverpool city centre.

Senior detectives are still keen to 'locate' Mr Chung in relation to both matters eight months later.

Mr Chung, who is from the Netherley area, is an accomplished kickboxer and well known across the city.

He is of stocky build and around five feet ten tall. Members of the public have been warned 'not to approach him.'

The first matter detectives wish to speak to Mr Chung about is a shooting which left a 27-year-old man fighting for his life.

Police were called out to Hartsbourne Avenue in Belle Vale on June 19 2017 after a man was shot in broad daylight.

Locals said the man who had been shot was left covered in blood and described a distressing scene which shocked the community.

Police said that a Nissan Note found torched in The Nook, Gateacre could have been linked to the shooting.

Although the victim suffered life threatening injuries he later recovered.

His family described the victim as 'loving, caring and affectionate.'

They said he would 'do anything for anyone' and appealed to the community to come forward with information about the incident.

Police would also like to speak to Mr Chung after a kickboxing event at the Black-E descended into a mass brawl. A fight broke out in the crowd during a contest between  Darren Lawlor and Adam Lea.

There were shocking scene as the fighting spread across the room, with chairs and other objects used as weapons.

The fight appeared to be between two rival groups of men. Toward the end a man was knocked out and then set upon as he lay on the floor.

At one point he was kicked in the head as he lay unconscious .  Women and children were at the event.
