Police seek witnesses to bicycle hit and run

Police are seeking witnesses to a collision between a car and a bicycle where the driver of the vehicle did not stop and left the scene.

Anyone who saw or who has dash-cam footage of the incident at the intersection of Macarthur Avenue and Northbourne Avenue in Turner at around 5.20pm on Tuesday September 8 is asked to contact police.

ACT Policing says the cyclist was travelling south, and entered the western side of the intersection and came off his bike. He was then hit by a small SUV, which police say could be a Kia Sportage, while on the ground. The car then continued to turn right onto Northbourne Avenue and left the scene.

Police want to speak to anyone who saw what happened and has not yet come forward.

If you have information you are urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or at www.crimestoppersact.com.au and quote reference 6626646.
