Jan. 21--Police investigating a missing-person case involving two elderly Wood Dale residents have released photos showing the couple inside a convenience store in far northwest suburban Cary about 1 a.m. Wednesday.
Donald Warren, 87, and his wife, Janette Warren, 80, of Wood Dale, were last seen Tuesday morning leaving for a doctor's appointment in the area of North and Harlem avenues, where Chicago borders the near west suburbs, according to a news release from Wood Dale police.
It is unknown if they ever arrived at their appointment. Family members notified police early Wednesday that the couple had not returned home, police said.
They were last seen driving a 2006 silver Dodge Caravan with Illinois plates 18843CV. The vehicle has distinct markings on the side bearing the words "Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps," an organization that Donald Warren has belonged to for many years in the Rosemont area.
Both of the Warrens have mild to severe dementia and may need medication, police said.
Prior to Wood Dale police being notified of the pair being missing, a police officer in northwest suburban Cary had contact with the Warrens in their vehicle along U.S. Highway 14. The couple indicated they planned to look for a motel for the night, police said.
The van was last seen after 1 a.m. heading east on U.S. 14.
On Wednesday afternoon, Wood Dale police released surveillance photos of the couple inside a store at a Thorntons gas station on U.S. 14 about 1 a.m.
Anyone having any information about the couple's whereabouts or the vehicle are asked to call Wood Dale police at 630-766-2060.
